Juxtapositiion - Carlsbad Says Build the Monstrosity

I just have to say this...READ THE TWO FOLLOWING POSTS!

Carlsbad City Council Takes Issue With I-5 Expansion

We now see what a bunch of crap City Hall really is to the people of Carlsbad. On one hand they take issue with the expansion, and in about 30 days send a resounding YES at the SANDAG meeting. Sure sounds like two faced politics to me! What about you? Take issue with something but approve it? Geez, did they do that with the new power plant? No. Seems City Hall can slip and slide to take issue with whatever they want when pushed by the people, and then do what they want when the whim suits them.

Okay, Mr. Hall. Leave it for the kids to decide. After they suck in the poilluted air, I suppose you'll be decrying the traffic jams that may be partly responsible for their respiratory problems, cancers and other medical issues. Maybe they can ask why Dad thought it was such a great idea to get as much traffic on the freeway as possible and why good old Carlsbad looks so much like Los Angeles? Gee, in these old pictures it looked so nice.....

I-5 CITIZENS COMMENT TIME HAS NOW PASSED!

Our sincere thanks to all who took the time and effort to comment on the expansion of Interstate 5. CalTrans now has hundreds if not thousands of comments to answer, and indicates it will take some time to do so. They have also indicated they will make some of their responses public on the site http://www.keepsandiegomoving.com/

As I remember, that was never indicated to anyone at the outset; we expected a personal response as we provided a personalized question as they requested. CalTrans didn't provide a website for us to access to leave comments, just written or e-mail.

We'll now see how government listens to the people, and whether SANDAG and CalTrans are really interested in what the voices said collectively fron North to South. Or whether this is just a political football they want to punt around for a year so they can enrich a select group of contractors and civil engineers, and keep loads of State employees on the payroll, while they tie up traffic needlessly for twenty or thirty years, pollute the air, destroy our views and damage our health. Let's hope they actually listened! (Does this sound like distrust? You better believe it!)

NOISE LEVEL TESTING

Preliminary Sound Level testing shows that the numbers released by CalTrans are based on a "model" that is computer generated. Nowhere can we find that they actually took physical sound level readings anywhere in Harbor Pointe.

Our own Sound Level tests show noise levels to be two to four times the CalTrans indicated noise levels at one location, and up to eight times the CalTrans noise levels at another location, this during what I estimate as "moderate traffic" movement, and not during what the CalTrans model estimates as Peak Traffic modes.

Once again, contact us at hpfreeway@att.net if you want to know just how loud the sound levels are outside your home now, and what you might expect if the freeway expansion is built!

Your Homeowners Association is Not Involved In This!

Your Homeowners Association Board has chosen to step back from this issue and not to take a stand in either direction. That, of course, is their legal stand and point well taken. The rest of us can ill afford to take that stand and wait until the earthmovers are in close proximity to our development to choose whether or not to take action against this project. It's an individual choice. But you may only have one chance to make it.

The people fighting this project have no direct connection to the Homeowners association, are NOT a committee of the HOA, nor are our activities supported by them. We are simply a group of concerned citizens operating independently to disseminate information on the facts and fallacies, as we see and uncover them, on the I-5 Widening Project.
